Reception News - 10th November

Date: 10th Nov 2017 @ 10:49am

Hello!

You'll never guess what we found on Monday... a red coat and a basket! We made lots of guesses about who it might belong to and finally decided it belonged to Little Red Riding Hood. We wondered if the wolf had been in our classroom too! After we read the story, we loved dressing up in our Little Red Riding Hood clothes and acting out the story with our friends.

We have been talking lots about ways to look after each other, just like Little Red Riding Hood did for Grandma. We also got a phone call from her mum asking us to think of some rules for Little Red Riding Hood to keep her safe from strangers. We knew lots of ways to stay safe.

In our writing, we have been making get well cards for Grandma. We are working hard to sound out each word like g-e-t and write the sounds down.

In maths we have been working out one more. Lots of us can now say one more than a any number to 10 and some numbers to 20. We have been using Little Red Riding Hood's fruit to help us add one more to a group.

In Come and See, our topic is Welcome and we are learning about baptism and being welcomed into a church family. We would like to share our baptism photos and add them to our prayer table next week so if you could send one in that would be much appreciated. (We will take a photocopy and send the original home).

Phonics

We have finished our second phase of phonics this week so next week Miss Davies will be seeing how many sounds and tricky words we know. I think she will be super impressed with how much we have learnt!

Good News

We were so impressed by a wonderful pencil holder made from a kitchen roll and decorated with paper and Olaf's face! We heard about a lovely trip to Green Wood forest park...it sounded very fun! We celebrated a super swimming achievement...Heidi can now swim 5 metres! Well done. We were really interested in hearing about the job of one of our mummies. She is a policewoman! We wrote a letter to her to ask her to visit us smiley Finally, we heard about a trip to London and looked at a special London calendar. This got us very excited about counting down to Christmas!
