Hello everyone,

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Last week in Y2:

Come and See

We continued to enjoy our "Books" topic, designing an information pamphlet about all the different types of used in church.  We will be soon starting our "Thanksgiving" topic.

Literacy

We enjoyed being word detectives with all the traditional tale books in class and looked for adjectives, nouns and verbs, some of us went further and spotted all the adverbs too!  We enjoyed experimenting with different sentence types to describe the Big Bad Pig prowling down the road - we used statements, questions and exclamations.  We also enjoyed reading Jim and the Beanstalk and then created our own descriptions of a giant that might appear in our own stories.  Next week we are going to write our own version of "Jack and the Beanstalk."

Numeracy

We have been exploring multiplication and what the X symbol really means.  We have been doing repeated additions, rectangular arrays and next week are going to continue with this and look at using different methods to solve word problems.

On Friday we said our goodbyes to Mrs Webster who is retiring.  I think the children really did her proud, with their beautiuful singing, words and gifts.

See you all tomorrow!
