WC 31st October

Date: 2nd Nov 2017 @ 4:34pm

Welcome back everyone!

Hope you all had a lovely half term break.  We have had an exciting week in Year 2 with the launch of our new topic, "Heroes and Villians."  We all loved dresssing up on Tuesday and had some really interesting discussions about what makes a hero or a villain.

Come and See

We have started our new unit on "Signs and Symbols" and some of us went on a hunt around school spotting all the different signs and symbols.

We invited our grown ups to join us for Collective Worship on Thursday morning, it was great to see so many there.  All the children agreed it was a really special time.

Literacy

We have adored reading Julia Donadlson's "The Highway Rat" and meeting our latest storybook villain - the Rat! In our writing we thought of lots of synonyms to describe the Highway Rat and thought of some alternative titles for the story.

Maths

In maths we have been exploring patterns in calculations and trying some number stories (word problems.)  In our groups we enjoy talking about the ways we can work to solve the problem.  We are continuing to practise counting forwards and backwards in tens from any number.

History

We had our first lesson all about The Gunpowder Plot  - it was really interesting and we are looking forward to completing some excting activities.

Bye Bye!smiley
