Week ending 15th September

What a busy, busy week it has been for the children of Y1 and we are delighted to say that they are settling in just fine! 

Marvellous Me!

Our topic for this term is Marvellous Me and the children have had a wonderful first week on this topic after it was 'launched' by the children finding an outline drawing figure of a mysterious person and a mystery box. The children were soooo excited, making lots of good guesses as to who the mystery person could be.  They were then beside themselves when different children had the opportunity to choose secret objects (clues) from the box. There was a placemat, a tin of hair mousse, a photograph, a microphone, a toy pig, a toy budgie, a champagne glass with 40 on it and a music book and a bandage.  The children bounced ideas off one another and eventually came to the idea it was a popstar and Thomas Desmond shouted "I know, it's Taylor Swift."   How disappointed they all seemed when Miss left the room to bring the mystery person, only to find that the only 'Taylor' that the box related to was in fact Mrs Taylor!  It was amazing to see such excitement from the children and  a wonderful beginning to our new topic.

Bucket Filling:

We have been learning how to be a bucket filling class.  We read the book about bucket filling and talked about how we could fill other people's buckets by doing kind things or giving them compliments.  We also collaged our own buckets and we are going to use them to make a lovely display in class.

Come and See:

As our new class topic is 'Marvellous Me' we have started our new Come and See all about marvellous me in my marvellous family.  We told Miss how our families show us love and care and she asked us to bring in a photo of our family which we can share with the class on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
