Week ending 20th October

Date: 19th Oct 2017 @ 10:13pm

Well it's the end of our first half term in Y1.  Well done to all of the children for settling in so well and to all of the parents for the support you have shown your children over the past seven weeks.

Hinduism Week
Well, this week we have been learning about all things Hindu.  We have listened to the Hindu stories of Ganesha and the birth of Krishna.  Some of us decorated images of these Hindu Gods and some of us worked our little socks off retelling these stories in our own words.  We also learnt about the fesitval of Rashka Bandhan.

Everyone made beautiful rakhi bracelets and some indian sweets just like Hindu brothers and sisters do during this festival.  We have really enjoyed learning about this other faith.  We will be learning about the sacrament of Baptism after half term.

Letters and Sounds:

We are currently being assessed on all the letters and sounds that we have learnt so far.

Scoop the Poop!

We have finally finished our posters and letters for Billinge Council, complaining about the amount of dog muck on the pavements.  We hope that by sending these to the Council, they will try and address this problem.  Our letters have made suggestions as to how they can overcome the issue.  Our ideas were to put more poo bins on the streets of Billinge and fine people who are caught letting their dogs foul.  We wonder if they will like any of them.  Watch this space! cool

We would finally like to take this opportunity to wish both the children and their families a wonderful, happy half term.  The first half term is always the hardest for the children as they settle into the routines of Y1 but we feel confident that the children are now happy and settled and look forward to seeing them for the next, even busier, half term!
