Autumn 2- Week 4

Date: 30th Nov 2023 @ 1:16pm

Hi everyone,

We have had another lovely week in Reception.

The Nativity was this week’s focus story. We have thoroughly enjoyed retelling this tale with props, and we cannot wait to do so in front of our grownups shortly. We also discussed Mary and Joseph's feelings as they anticipated the birth of Jesus in Come and See.

In phonics, we learned the digraphs, 'ch, sh, th, and ng'. As we practised decoding and blending, we became fabulous phoneme spotters, recognising these digraphs in words! We also practised reading the tricky words 'we, me, and be'. Keep up the hard work, children 😊.

In maths, we looked at the various ways to make the numbers four and five. We particularly enjoyed going to our Number Bond to Five nail salon!  Some children wanted two of their nails painted yellow and three of them pink. Maths is so much fun!

This week's Wellie Walk was very chilly and icy! We had a great time going on a winter hunt and taking in the constant changes to our surroundings. Check out some of the photographs below 😊

Finally, we are keeping up with our rehearsals for our beautiful Nativity play. The children have been putting so much effort into their performances while standing on stage. We are so proud of them. Details about roles have been sent home in wallets.  Please do not worry about costumes; they are provided.

We wish you a happy weekend,
