Autumn 2- Week 6

Date: 14th Dec 2023 @ 1:29pm

Hi everyone,

What a wonderful week we have had.

The 'Jolly Christmas Postman' remained the focus story this week. We had a lot of fun writing our own letters to Father Christmas and are now eagerly awaiting a response!

In phonics, we learned the digraph 'oo'. We understand that this letter sound can be either 'long' or 'short'. As we practised our decoding and blending skills, we became fabulous phoneme spotters, recognising this digraph in words.  We also practised reading the tricky word 'my'. Keep up the hard work, children.

In maths, we have spent some time consolidating what we have learned so far! We went over our number bonds to 5, identified numbers that were one more or one less than a specific number, and revised and discussed 2D shapes in great detail.

We finished the week by performing our Nativity to our grown ups! We are so proud of you, children; you were and continue to be incredible!  We also want to thank all of our parents and carers for your support. Please see the school newsletter for photographs of the fantastic cast!

Next week is our last week of school before the Christmas break. We will be doing lots of Christmas arts and crafts and preparing for our whole-school Christmas service in Church (for more information, please see the school newsletter).

Finally, we would like to congratulate Robyn, who won a voucher after entering a Christmas poster design competition. Well done, Robyn!

We wish you a happy and restful weekend as we prepare for the final week of the Autumn term,
