Merry Christmas, Reception :)

Hi everyone,

What an exciting last week we have had!

Monday was our 'Christmas Day of Fun'. We enjoyed a lovely festive lunch, did some Christmassy craft activities, and watched the pantomime, Aladdin. Check out some of the photographs below!

In phonics, we reviewed all of the letter-sounds we had previously learned, and practised reading the digraphs 'ar' and 'or'. As we practised our decoding and blending skills, we became fabulous phoneme spotters, recognising these digraphs in words. Throughout the week, we also had fun doing some fun Christmas-themed phonics activities. We will spend some time after the Christmas break reviewing the letter sounds we have already learned before learning new letter sounds.

In maths, we talked about key events in our daily routines. To describe different events, we used words such as,  'first, next, last, morning, afternoon, and night time'.

Unfortunately, the weather was too wet for our weekly Wellie Walk. Instead, we sipped hot chocolate with marshmallows while listening to Christmas music as a special treat.

Lastly, thank you for your ongoing support, parents and carers. This has been an extremely busy first term! We are so proud of your children; they are amazing! We would also like to express our gratitude for your kind words, cards, and gifts. Being your child's teacher is the ultimate blessing. We are extremely fortunate.
