Comparing and ordering numbers and place value activities for Y1 mathematicians

Date: 24th Apr 2020 @ 10:42pm

Hello everyone,

I have been working with Alfie Ba, Penny, Theo, Jude and Theo in school this week and they have had a great time learning about Saint George and the Dragon as well as doing lots of other fun activities.

It has been lovely to see some of the things that all of you at home have been getting up to as well.  Well done to Tilly and her big brother Sonny!  You have been having all sorts of crazy adventures on your ‘Back to the Future’ movie set!  It was also lovely to see Jessica and her big sister Olivia doing some painting outdoors in the lovely sunshine to celebrate St George’s day.

Also a big well done to these children who have completed the most activities on Education City in their respective groups so far:-

Alfie Ba

James

Maddie

Well done!  You have been working very hard on your time, addition and subtraction interactive tasks.

A special mention should also go out to these children, who too, have been working very hard on their Education City maths:-

Stanley, Jessica, Georgia, Scarlett, Penny, Bobby, Lucas, Harry and Oliver

Perhaps some of you will be able to knock the leaders above off first place for the next time I check!

I have now taken the time activities out of your homework folders on Education City and added some comparing and ordering numbers and place value tasks.  The addition and subtraction tasks are still in your folders.

In case you don’t know how to access your maths work on Education City on the internet, I have listed the instructions below:-

•        Log on to Education City using your username and password and don’t forget to input the country- England!

•        On the Home Page, click on the green homework icon

•        Click on the homework (not classwork) tab

•        Click on the Year 1 maths group that is your group in class (each folder will only record data for the names of the children that are in that group in class)

•        Choose from the learning screens and activities that are in your folder

•        Complete activity

•        The program will show you (and me!) your scores and corrections

•        See if you can beat your previous score

I hope you and your family are all healthy and safe.  I will speak to you again next week to let you know which spelling rules you should be learning.

Big hugs

From Mrs Duffy
