Happy Half Term, Reception!

Date: 23rd Oct 2023 @ 12:55pm

Hello everyone,  and happy half term!

We cannot believe we have been in school for eight weeks already! We have made new routines, met new friends, and tried new things. Wow, we are definitely ready for a break! Parents/Carers, we appreciate all of your help at home and your ongoing support.

Valerie Thomas' 'Winne the Witch' was this week's focus story. We enjoyed using chalk to create some fantastic pictures from the story. The children also used their super phonic skills to write down the ingredients for their own potions!

This week in phonics, we learned the double consonant letter sounds 'ff, ll and ss'  We love saying the rhymes as we write the letters! There is no letter formation sheet this week. Please try to review all Level 2 letter sounds with your child at home during the half term break (do not spend too much time on this.) This revision will boost their confidence while improving their phonic skills.

In maths, we explored the composition of 1, 2, and 3. We had a lot of fun representing the various ways to make these numbers with five frames and colored counters.

This week's Wellie Walk was a lot of fun! We had a great time doing a spooky scavenger hunt with our year 6 buddies. The children had to look closely to find different spooky pictures hung from the trees. We finished the walk by receiving a tasty prize!

We wish you a fun and safe half term break! See you on Tuesday, 7th Of November :)

P.s

On Tuesday, 7th November 2023, we will learn about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. We will sample some traditional festival food as part of our learning (vegetable samosas and onion bhajis). Please let us know if your child has any allergies that we are not aware of. Thank you :)
