Home Learning Monday 6th July

Date: 5th Jul 2020 @ 1:12pm

Good Morning Y3 laugh

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend. This week I am changing how I set your work.

I am  no longer going to set you a whole week's work for Literacy and Maths on a Monday.

I will set you tasks every day for Maths and Literacy. Try to do these tasks in the mornings when you are fresh and ready to learn.

You can then choose your afternoon tasks from the list below. You can choose the tasks you prefer, but try to spend an hour in the afternoon on one of them

You should also aim to spend 10 mins a day on timestables and 1/2 hour reading.

Maths and Literacy Tasks for Monday:

Maths: The focus of Bitesize Maths this week is Mass and Capacity. You can choose to either complete the Bitesize lessons and activities or use the PowerPoints and Work Sheets attached to the daily blog. The PowerPoints and activities that I have attached should match the focus of the Bitesize lessons. You don 't have to complete all of today's attached work sheets; you can choose from the selection attached. Watch the PowerPoint before you attempt the work sheets as it will help you. yes

Monday's Bitesize Home Learning  - Measuring Mass in gs and kgs.

Literacy: This week I am going to focus on your reading comprehension and SPaG skills. I have attached Reading Comprehensions for Mon, Wed and Fri and SPaG activities for Tues and Thurs. You do not need to complete the Bitesize Learning tasks - unless you want to laugh

Today's Reading Comprehension is a non fiction text all about Sharks. There is a reading booklet, question booklet and answer booklet attached (so that you or your adult can mark your work). It should take you no longer than an hour to read the booklet and answer the questions.

Afternoon Tasks

Try to choose 1 task a day from the list below. All tasks have been taken from previous blogs, as I know that lots of you haven't completed them yet. As we are nearing the end of the school year, it is a great opportunity to finish them.

ART:

  • Research into the life of Georgia O'Keeffe and create a factfile, poster or PowerPoint to record your findings.
  • Using O'Keefe's work as your inspiration, create your own very close up picture of a flower. You could use a flower from your garden or one of Georgia's paintings as your starting point. You don't need to fit the whole flower onto your paper - she didn't! You could use chalks, paint, pastels, pencils or crayons. Remember to use bright, vibrant colours like she did. Send me a photograph of your work.
  • Try taking close up photographs of flowers and leaves in your garden. Print them out;  cut them out and arrrange them onto a piece of paper to make a colourful floral collage. Send me a photograph of your work.

D.T.

  • If you have haven't completed any of the work on Alexander Calder and his mobiles, why not have a go this week. It is great fun. All details can be found on the blogs of Monday 15th  and Monday 22nd June.

HISTORY:

  • Start, continue or finish your Ancient Greek Project. All details can be found in your Home Learning Pack. Projects will be displayed in your new classroom in September.
  • Complete the timeline activity showing important events in your life.
  • Complete the research activity into an important historical event that has happened since the year 2000.

Finally for today - a great BIG shout out to:

Harry for completing his Georgia O'Keeffe research. I am so proud of how hard Harry is working. He completes lots of the tasks that I set and always sends his work in for me to see. yes I've attached Harry's work to the blog for you all to see.

If you have completed work for me, why not send it in, or a photograph of it, so that I can share it with the rest of Y3.

Also to:

Olivia for making the origami butterfly that I attached to last week's blog for Children's Art Week. If you've not tried to make the butterfly, why not have a go. Well done Olivia. yes

Image previewThat's all from me for today. I'll blog again tomorrow with your new Maths and SPag tasks. I won't list the afternoon tasks again, as you can always look back to today's blog.

Take care Y3 and stay safe. Try to work hard. laugh
