Passport to the World

Hello everyone,

We thoroughly enjoyed our Passport to the World topic. Throughout our topic we had lots of exciting lessons using maps, atlases and globes. We talked about different places around the world that we had visited and where we would love to travel to next. We learned all about the capital cities of the UK and their special landmarks.

During Harvest time we learned about celebrations from around the world. We learned about traditions in other countries and compared them to our own traditions.

We then became artisits! We were so inspired by the beautiful artwork created by Roy Laewaetz, we decided to create our own masterpiece in the style of his art. We took inspiration from around the world, focusing on life in the Caribbean. We looked closely at Caribbean animals, fruit and landscapes, We explored line, value, texture and shape and thought about how we could include the properties of art into our work. We are extremely proud of our masterpieces. I must say, we definitely have some budding artists in Year 2.

Finally, we had our Fantastic Finish! We tasted lots of different Caribbean fruit and juices. We listened to traditional Caribbean music and made mocktails with our favourite juices. It was so much fun! Our favourite juice was Papaya, we all agreed it was delicious!

We can't wait to dive in to next topic 'Heroes and Villains'.

Thank you all, for your continued support this year!

The Y2 Team :)
