Reading Books

Date: 20th Sep 2022 @ 3:47pm

Hello everybody,

Inside your child’s book bag is a reading record and a picture book. Picture books play a very important part in the process of learning how to read. Illustrations help children to develop important skills such as listening, comprehension and vocabulary. More details about reading books will be given at the reading meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 (3.45pm—4.15pm). Children will be given a reading book to take home each week (please return books every Monday and we will issue a new one).

Please find the attached poster which gives excellent advice on how to support early reading at home.  Always choose to read at a time when your child is relaxed and not tired. It is helpful if you can make a brief comment in your child’s reading record to let us know how they are getting on with their reading at home. Do not try to rush the reading or worry about where other children are up to. Each child develops at their own pace, and at this age, the main drive for them will be their love of reading books.

As always thank you for your continued support,
