Spring 2- Week 3

Date: 8th Mar 2024 @ 10:03am

Hi everyone,

What a busy week it has been!

This week's focus story was Oliver's Vegetables, written by Vivian French.  We had a lot of fun printing with vegetables, planting vegetables, and creating posters to encourage healthy living. Check out some photographs below 😊.

In phonics, we have been working hard on letter formation, particularly those challenging capital letters!  In addition, we practised reading tricky words and chunking longer words. We are phonics superstars 😊.

We explored the concept of time in maths. We created a daily routine timetable, and experimented with different methods of measuring time, including sand timers, stop watches, and countdowns.

In Happy Healthy Me, we began our new topic, 'Relationships'. We made bracelets to symbolise friendship.

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. We had a lot of fun doing rainbow crafts inspired by our focus story of the day, 'Rain Before Rainbows'.  We also spent some time sharing our favourite stories with our friends while listening to relaxing music.

Ralph, our class reading bear, has left to visit his first home! Please encourage your child to read to him. They could read a favourite story of theirs, or their home reader. There is no need to record any reading your child does with Ralph; simply enjoy.  Ralph will be sent home twice a week.

Finally, we wish you a happy Mothering Sunday.

Have a blessed weekend,
