Starting our 'Marvellous Me' topic

Hello Everyone,
Well, what have we been doing over the last week? We have started our Y1 phonics journey, and you should receive your first weekly ‘Phonics Parents’ Information’ sheets, on Friday 15th September, to practise the rule(s) we have been learning, in class, at home with your child. Please keep these at home so your child can return to the sounds as the weeks progress. The bookmarks are also to be kept at home for you to revisit the sounds and words until your child is secure with them. You will also receive your first piece of homework, which, for this week, will be maths.
As our new topic is ‘Marvellous Me’, in science, we have been learning about our external body parts by singing songs and playing games and we had great fun drawing around each other and labelling the parts. We have also read about Elmer, collaged our own class Elmer and completed work on why everyone is different and everyone is welcome. We are loving writing in our diaries telling the teachers everything we have been doing, at home, on an evening and over the weekend and our teachers love reading the diaries just as much as we love writing them!
Just in case you are not aware, the letters that will be sent home with your child, on Friday 15th September, are also available to read in an electronic form on our class page on the website. Please scroll to near the bottom and you will see them there. Please forgive me if the things to remember letter is a little long and detailed. I am sure as the weeks progress, our routines and systems will become more familiar and established.
