Summer 1- Week 3

Date: 29th Apr 2024 @ 3:17pm

Hi everyone,

On Monday, we were shocked to learn that an alien had touched down in our school garden! We discovered that he goes by the name 'Sporkle'. Given that this week's focus story was ‘Aliens Love Underpants’, this was very exciting news. We really enjoyed listening to the story and the process of designing and sculpting our own clay alien models. We will paint them once they are dry.

In phonics, we learned to read the tricky words 'were, there, little and, one', and we practised spelling longer words.

In maths, we explored numbers 11-20. To develop our understanding, we practised building these numbers using ten frames, cubes, base 10, and numicon. With the numbers 11–20, we also found patterns. Numbers 11–13, for instance, have one ten and one, one ten and two, one ten and three, and so on!  We are super mathematicians 😊.

On Wednesday, Mrs Whipp stopped by to help us sew pairs of underpants for 'Sporkle', the alien, and his friends. The children were amazing and picked up a few sewing techniques!

We hope that you have a restful and long weekend,
