Summer 2- Week Two

Date: 16th Jun 2023 @ 12:32pm

Hi everyone,

What a lovely week we have had.

We read 'Violet the Pilot' by Steve Breen this week. We talked about how it's good to be different and how we should celebrate our diverse interests. We also learned about aeroplanes and labelled their various parts, as well as having a great time creating fantastic plane artwork. Furthermore, during  Wellie Walk, the children had fun making their own paper planes to see who could fly the furthest. Wow, we have been very busy!

In phonics, we are continuing to enjoy our Level 4 learning. The tricky words ‘have’ and ‘like’ were introduced to us.  The children have also been working hard to spell a lot of the tricky words that they learned during Level 3 phonics. Additionally, we practised reading and spelling CVCC words like ‘frog’, ‘spoon’, and ‘grass’. Please try to continue to review all Level 2 and 3 sounds with your children at home. This revision will boost their confidence while also improving their phonic skills

In maths, we looked at odd and even numbers, as well as grouping amounts. When we were grouping amounts, we discovered that the number was odd when an object was left over. The children have been given a home learning activity, which helps to reinforce the work they have been doing in school. It would be lovely if you could upload a photograph of your child's work to Evidence Me so we can celebrate their learning.

We discussed how we can care for our environment in our Happy Healthy Me topic. We talked about what the word ‘responsible' means. We understand our responsibility to care for the environment by putting rubbish in the bin, planting seeds, watering plants, and turning off lights when leaving a room to save energy.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend,
