Hello everyone,

Christmas is approaching and we are as busy as ever in Year 2 with our Christmas preparations.

Come and See

We have started our new topic "Preparations" which helps us to understand this special season of Advent.  Emily has started off the Travelling Nativity this weekend and hopefully will be passing it onto Joshua.  This is a special opportunity for our children to reflect with their families, in their homes, on this time of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.   It is lovely for the children to pray at home and then bring into class their prayers, pictures and photographs from home.

Literacy

We have completed our newspaper reports detailing the antics of the Highway Rat.  We have used our editing skills to help improve our writing and have all remembered our own personal writing targets, we use these to continually help us to improve.

Numeracy

We have completed our first assessment in addition, aubraction and reasoning skills.  It was quite a challenge but I was certainly impressed with how the children approached it  and with the application of their skills.  We have one more to complete before we begin our new unit on Shape and Space.

As Christmas is approaching we will begin all our Christmas arts and crafts activities which is always fun.  Thank you to all those children who have returned their Nqtviity outfits in readiness for the dress rehearsal.  Don't worry if you are yet to return it - it will be fine next week.

See you all next week!
