Year 1 Catch Up

Date: 30th Sep 2023 @ 6:55pm

Hello everyone,

Well we have had another few interesting weeks in Y1. We have enjoyed reading and sharing a number of books in story time including "Once We Were Giants" by Martin Waddell, "Funny Bones" by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, "A Piece of cake" by Jill Murphy and two special books linking to our Happy Healthy Me curriculum and Families topic in Come and See which were donated to class by Hettie's Mummy.  Thank you so much! :)  We love reading in Y1!

During our place value topic in maths we have just started to learn about the greater than and less than symbols.  A tricky concept, but we will continue our learning on this next week.

In Come and See, the children have learnt about how we all belong to a family who love and care for us, but even though all of our families are different, we are all part of God's family.  In Happy Healthy Me we have learnt about how we all grow and that there are various life stges throughout our lives.

Science lessons have seen us learning how to write scientific labels, labelling our facial features on photographs of ourselves.  We have also started to learn about our five senses.

The children thoroughly enjoyed  practising to ride bikes during their session on balance bikes at the end of the week and dont forget it is photographs day on Monday so make sure you look super smart!

Please scroll to the bottom as I have included some photos of the children making our class Elmer for our Happy Healthy Me display and some photographs of us working in art lessons.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend,

Love from Mrs Duffy, Mrs Taylor and Miss Parr
