Summer 1- Week 2

Date: 25th Apr 2024 @ 12:56pm

Hi everyone,

What a super week we have had!

Oliver Jeffers' 'How to Catch a Star' was the focus story this week.  We enjoyed writing wishes on paper to hang from a tree,  as well as learning new words from the story. Furthermore, we also had fun researching facts about stars using iPads, and recreating Vincent van Gogh's 'Starry Night'.

This weeks, in phonics, we continued to learn strategies for reading longer words and also practiced reading the tricky words 'have, like, some, and come'.

In maths, we revisited repeating patterns but this time we deepend our understanding by making complex patterns and looked for patterns in the environment.

We had fun investigating shadows on Thursday. We had a great time making our own puppets to tell our own stories and perform a mini shadow puppet show. Check out some of the photographs below!

We wish you a happy and restful weekend,

The Reception Team
