Celebration of the Word

At the heart of our prayer life is the daily Celebration of the Word, both in classes and during whole school gatherings. Children are actively involved through praying, reading, singing, and other forms of participation. At St Mary’s, worship is carefully planned to be child-centred, age-appropriate, and reflective of the context, incorporating key events from the Church’s liturgical calendar, such as Advent and Lenten reflections.

In accordance with both statutory requirements and our faith ethos, prayer and worship are an integral part of daily school life. These may be experienced in a range of ways, including class-based worship, key stage celebrations, and whole-school gatherings. All members of the school community are warmly encouraged to participate. Worship also incorporates feast days, current global events, the work of organisations such as CAFOD, and the stories of inspirational individuals, while also recognising and valuing other faith traditions.
