St. Mary's Birchley PTFA, welcomes all parents, teachers and friends of our school, who wish to help us with our fundraising throughout each school year. Everyone can become part of our team in planning, preparing and creating fundraising events for our children and their families.

This page will be used to keep you up to date with the latest news, events and initiatives that the PTFA would love for you to get involved with. Our main aim is to organise PTFA events help to raise vital funds, enabling us to enrich the school lives of every pupil at St. Mary's Birchley. We help to provide equipment, educational experiences and to buy specific items for the school by holding fundraising events throughout the school year. We definitely put the FUN into fundraising and are always looking for ideas.

From Reception through to Year 6, pupils within the school will benefit in some way from the funds we raise, so it is important for all of us to support the PTFA and get involved in any way we are able to.

We would really appreciate the support of you and your wider families where possible and for those of you who can give a little bit extra, we would be thrilled to see you at our next PTFA meeting.

Our progress so far...

What are we aiming for?

The PTFA are hoping to "be the best we can be" by raising more funds to develop the outdoor area in EYFS, to work alongside Eco-Council to grow fruit and vegetables, to create a tranquil prayer garden and to fund some school trips and educational experiences. All of your contributions make such a difference in what we can offer all of our children. We very much appreciate every donation and penny raised as it goes towards directly benefitting the children at St.Mary's.

Events

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Welcome Coffee Afternoon on Thursday 10th September. We successfully raised £101.42 for MacMillan Cancer Support and £49.60 for our PTFA.

Take a look below at the transformation so far to our outdoor space.

We have parents, grandparents, teachers and pupils both past and present to thank for their time, work and patience with helping us to get this project started. We massively cleared up the woodland area and created pathways for children to explore.

We also have some companies to thank for their donations, time, and expertise in helping to transform the outdoor space...

Kealshore delivered soil to fill the planters that we have and we also created a mound in the far corner of the field. This will have wildflowers planted on it.

North West Timber provided some wood for the planter that we have. In this our eco council have grown some of their own veg. Reception children recently harvested some carrots our of there.

We had a team of Sky engineers (including one of our St.Mary's dads) who completed a community day by creating a stepping stone footpath towards where the prayer garden was going to be built.

The Catholic Blind Institute in Liverpool, kindly donated some Willow plants to us to plant on our school field. We created a Willow pathway that will grow into and archway. We also planted some in a semi-circle that will become a willow hut when it grows tall enough.

North West Building and Development Ltd answered our call for help when we asked for some groundwork to be done. The owners of the company are parents at St.Mary's and were only to happy to provide the help we needed. Little did we know that they would prepare the ground, lay the flags and chippings, secure our cross and statue of Mary and help to plant up the edges of the prayer garden. They really did go above and beyond for us and for that we will be eternally grateful.

We will have more news soon on the prayer garden seating and anything else we would like to do. But for now, the prayer garden and woodland are accessible for the children to use. What a beautiful outdoor space that is developing to enable all our children to learn, pray, reflect and give thanks.

We hope this space will be looked after and enjoyed by all St.Mary's children and their families for many years to come.
